Subtraction of Algebraic Expressions:
In this lecture we will learn the addition of algebraic expression. There are some basic rules of to keep in mind while solving these questions. We will learn what to do, how to do and how to solve a question of addition in math when there are a lot of variables of different types in the expression to solve simultaneously.
Example 1:
= (2x + 5y) – (3x - 2y)
Change the signs of the
second expression.
= 2x + 5y
- 3x + 2y)
Rearrange the expressions.
= 2x - 3x + 5y + 2y
= -x + 7y
Example 2:
= (4x3 + 5x2
+ 9x – 3) - (10x3 + 5x2 - 9x – 3)
Change the signs of the
second expression.
= 4x3
+ 5x2 + 9x – 3 - 10x3 - 5x2 + 9x + 3
Rearrange the expressions.
= 4x3
- 10x3 + 5x2 - 5x2 + 9x + 9x - 3 + 3
= -6x3 + 18x
Example 3:
= (2x2 - 5x + 8)
- (5x2 + 8x - 2)
Change the signs of the
second expression
= 2x2 - 5x + 8 -5x2
- 8x + 2
Rearrange the expressions.
= 2x2
-5x2 - 5x - 8x + 8 + 2
= -3x2 - 8x + 8
