Mercantilism
is trade policy under which a country decides to increase its exports and
reduce its imports. There was a time when India was called the Golden Sparrow.
At that time, goods were exported from India all over the world and in return,
the wealth of the world would reach India in the form of gold and silver coins
called Bullions. Thus, the subcontinent began to own the treasures all over the
world. This was the time when it was called the Golden Sparrow. With the
passage of time, other countries of the world realized that trade should be
diverted i.e. trade goods should be exported to India instead of being imported
from India. Indian exports began to decline, imports began to rise, and gold
and silver coins began to flow out of the region. And then this golden bird
