The central bank of any country performs a few important functions & plays a vital role in the economy of that country. These functions are divided into two parts. These are as:

·         Functions as the government’s bank

·         Functions as the bankers’ bank

Functions as the bankers’ bank

In this section, the bank performs following functions:

                              Lender of Last Resort

                              Rediscounting of Bill

                              Clearing House Facility

                              Control of Cash Reserves

                              Counselling Facilities
