An adject
is the quality of a noun or pronoun. i.e., The fat boy runs slowly. In this
sentence the word "fat" is an adjective. An adjective has three degrees.
These are:
Positive
Degree
Comparative
Degree
Superlative
Degree
Positive Degree:
When an adjective is used without
any reference. It has no relation with other nouns of the same category. For
example:
He is a rich man.
You are a lazy boy.
She is an honest girl.
Comparative Degree
When an adjective is used to compare
the noun with another noun. But comparative degree of the adjective is used to compare
only one noun. For example:
He is richer than his brother.
You are wiser that that boy.
This pen is better than
that one.
Superlative Degree
When an adjective is used to compare
the noun with all other nouns of the category. Remember that the superlative comparative
degree of the adjective is used to compare the nouns with more than one nouns. For
example:
He is richest man of the family.
You are wisest boy of
the class.
